About · The Operator
Built around boats. Brought home to the coast.
Palmetto State Detail Co. didn't start as a car-wash that added boats. It started on the water — with a detailer who learned to protect high-value vessels from the people who do it best, and brought that standard home to the Carolina coast.
The operator
Trevor Haines, founder.
Trevor Haines is a Coastal Carolina University graduate who's spent the better part of a decade on and around the Carolina coast. He built his detailing career on the water — working on boats up and down the East Coast and learning the craft from some of the most respected marine detailers in the country.
That path ran through serious places. He trained alongside top marine teams — including work at Jarrett Bay, home to some of the finest sportfishing yachts built in America — and earned certifications with Gtechniq Marine and STARKE Yacht Care, two coating systems built for protecting high-value vessels against exactly what the ocean does to them.
Detailing high-end boats teaches you something most car detailers never see: how relentless salt, sun, and humidity really are, and how much skill it takes to defend a finish against them. Palmetto State Detail Co. is built on that lesson. It's now based on the Grand Strand, in Pawleys Island — bringing yacht-level protection to every asset that lives on this coast, from boats and RVs to luxury vehicles and golf carts.
The company runs on three things: customer service, real craftsmanship, and an obsessive attention to detail. Every asset gets treated like it's our own.
Credentials
Trained where the standards are highest.
Coastal protection isn't a side service we picked up — it's where the whole business comes from. These are the credentials behind the work.
Gtechniq Marine certified
Certified in one of the leading marine ceramic coating systems — the chemistry built specifically to defend gelcoat against salt and UV.
STARKE Yacht Care certified
Trained and certified in a premium yacht-care coating line used on high-value vessels.
Trained on the East Coast's best boats
Years working alongside top marine detailers up and down the coast — including at Jarrett Bay, home to some of the finest sportfishing yachts built in America.
How we work
The standard we hold on every job.
Protection over cleaning
A clean finish is the byproduct. The job is defending the surface against a coast that's actively breaking it down. Every recommendation answers one question: does this protect the asset?
Craftsmanship over speed
We'd rather do a few assets right than rush through a dozen. The quality is the entire reason to choose us — we don't trade it for volume.
Treat every asset like our own
We assume the owner is watching. We document before and after, and we never cut a corner we'd have to hide.
Educate, don't pressure
You should leave understanding why coating beats wax and why correction comes before coating. Informed owners make better decisions — and we'd rather earn trust than push a sale.
Why owners trust us with access
A real, named local — not a stranger with a pressure washer.
Handing someone the keys to a $90,000 boat or the gate code to your second home takes trust. We earn it the same way every time: show up when we said, communicate proactively, document the work, and do exactly what was quoted. For absentee owners especially, that reliability is the whole relationship.
The work
Where it started — and where it shows.
If you own something worth protecting on this coast, I'd be glad to take care of it.
